Children's School

Our Philosophy
Young children have the right, and deserve the privilege, to grow and develop as individuals to their fullest capacity. The focus at Columbia St. Mary's Children's School is on the total child: spiritual, emotional, social, physical and intellectual growth and development.

Our History
Since August 1981, the Children's Schools have been providing quality childcare to the employees of Columbia St. Mary's Milwaukee, Ozaukee, and Columbia campuses, Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Institute, and the Orthopaedic Hospital of Wisconsin, as well as the community at large.

We currently are located at the Columbia St. Mary's Milwaukee Campus on the east side of Milwaukee, and in the RiverPoint Shopping Centre in Fox Point.

Ages Served and Programs Offered
We care for infants as young as six weeks through pre-school. At our RiverPoint location, we also offer:

  • A four-year old Kindergarten program
  • A Before and After School program for children through age 9
  • A Summer Program for children through age 9

Intergenerational programs with the Milwaukee Catholic Home are offered at our Generations location.

Curriculum
Our curriculum includes:

  • A developmentally appropriate, theme-based learning program geared to the individual child
  • A balanced program, including cognitive, social, language and physical development
  • Field trips, offered to pre-school age children, to supplement the learning experience

Additionally, nutritious meals and snacks are provided.

Flexible Scheduling
Unique to CSM Children's School is the ability to have weekly, variable schedules. Employees of CSM have additional offerings through our employee benefit package.

Parent Involvement
We know how difficult it is to balance your child's activities with your professional career. We provide you with several means of keeping in touch with your child while they are entrusted to our care:

  • Daily reports on your child's activities
  • A weekly schedule of planned activities
  • Parent/Teacher conferences

You are also invited to stop in to the School at any time during the day to visit your child.

Additionally, we do have Parent Associations to help plan special activities.

Staff Credentials
All staff employed at our Schools and caring for your children have successfully completed the Early Childhood Education programming, as required for their position. We continually encourage and support opportunities for staff education.
