2009 Summer Adventures!

Children's School

Beachball Get ready for summer! This year, the Columbia St. Mary's Children's School Summer Adventures program is destined to be our most exciting summer yet. We offer children ages 5-9, ten fabulous weeks of exciting and fun-filled activities. Our Summer Adventures program has been in operation for more than 15 years and is taught by certified Early Childhood Education staff. We provide a safe atmosphere where children create wonderful memories as well as build important skills that will last a lifetime. Each week offers your child the opportunity to join together in educational games and fun activities that will foster their creativity and teamwork skills, and learn about the world around them.

Worms are amazing creatures. Did you know that worms can help people? Yes, it's true. This week we will be able to apply hands-on learning and fun to introduce the world of worms, from singing a song to touching the worms and even doing a worm craft. The children will have a fun and educational time learning facts about worms. Tentative Trip: Havenwoods State Forest

Let’s celebrate America! The 4th of July is a time for parades, parks, family and fireworks. The children will make their own firework displays and decorate trikes for a parade around the school. We will even enjoy a picnic on the playground. It is sure to be a blast!

We will begin our week with a fun filled trip to Stonefire Pizza Co. Then we will climb, slide, run and jump our way through a week of exciting activities and games that are sure to get your heart pumping! Tentative Trip: Stonefire Pizza

Children learn by touching, tasting, feeling, smelling, and listening. They love to help prepare food and cook because they can use all their senses. Planning, preparing, cooking, and eating menu items like fish bowls, pineapple sunshines, and bagel pizzas will put the sizzle in our summer! Let the cooking adventures begin.

The immigrants and pioneers who settled in Wisconsin came from vastly different cultures. Come along with us this week as we pack our bags and prepare for a trip back in time and rediscover what life was like for these early settlers. Tentative Trip: Old World Wisconsin

Discover what life is like in and around a pond. This week we will examine what is happening in the pond environment from frogs and toads to swimming holes. Tentative Trip: Brown Deer Pond

What is one of the first things that come to mind when you think of pirates? Treasure! Join us this week as we hunt for treasures and avoid walking the plank. Step aboard and be lively! Tentative Trip: Pirates Hollow Water Park & Possibility Playground

Let’s rock campers!!!! This week we will have a rockin’ good time singing karaoke and dressing up like our favorite rock stars. We will also enjoy many camping activities complete with a classroom campout and campfire. You’ll never have s’more fun!

This week we will learn about animals in the wild and their environment. We will talk about the importance of conserving wildlife and endangered species and share this knowledge with those around us. Tentative Trip: Milwaukee County Zoo

We will end the summer with a week full of activities, games and more. A field trip to Cedarburg Park and Pool will wrap up the summer and leave us with memories that will last a lifetime.Tentative Trip: Cedarburg Park and Pool
