How many conversations have you had lately when someone asked, “What can we do about health care?” Clearly, the health care system in this country is broken. At Columbia St. Mary’s we’re doing everything in our power to help fix it. Our commitment is to provide Healthcare That Works, Healthcare That Is Safe and Healthcare That Leaves No One Behind. Here are a few examples of how we’re achieving those goals:
New Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Milwaukee
Borrowing from evidence-based medicine that drives improved patient treatment, Columbia St. Mary’s is building the “hospital of the future” on Milwaukee’s east side through what is termed “evidence-based design.” More than just consolidating two aging hospitals to create a state-of-the-art facility, the project will serve as a model for enhancing patient outcomes. We’re partnering with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement to create one of the safest and most innovative hospitals in the country. In addition, Columbia St. Mary’s is one of 43 hospitals nationwide that is part of The Center for Health Design’s Pebble Project, which documents examples of health facilities where design has made a difference in the quality, care and financial performance of the institution. Columbia St. Mary’s will realize $19 million in annual operating cost savings by combining the two east side hospitals.
Award Winning Health Care
Columbia St. Mary’s is now ranked among the best hospitals in the nation! Two of our Columbia St. Mary’s Hospitals have now achieved Top 100 hospital national status over the past two years, setting the standard of excellence nationwide in quality of care, operational efficiency, financial performance, growth and performance improvement. This is a tremendous testament to our commitment to transform health care in our region, putting patient quality and safety at the center of everything we do.
